PALM SPRINGS, CALI. (November 10, 2014) A go-cart race at Hayward® Pool Products’ recent global sales meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Indian Wells, Calif., ended with a local charity emerging as the true winner. Martha’s Village & Kitchen was presented with a $1,500 donation towards continuing their mission: to serve its neighbors by responding to their needs with food, clothing, shelter and an opportunity to become self-sufficient by affirming their dignity with love, compassion and respect.

As part of a team-building exercise, Hayward’s sales teams built and raced custom-made go-carts. The winning team was awarded prize money based on design and speed. They, in term, chose the Indio-based Martha’s Village & Kitchen to benefit from their winnings.

Vice President of Hayward Sales Mike Massa said, “Hayward is proud to support a worthwhile organization that is dedicated to helping individuals and families in need.” He went on to say, “Team building always plays an important role in our sales meetings, and we look for a respected local charity near our sales meeting site to be the beneficiary of our team building event.”

About Martha’s Village & Kitchen

Martha’s Village & Kitchen, one of the largest non-profit providers of homeless services in the Coachella Valley and Riverside County, began in 1990 when founders Gloria Gomez and Claudia Castorena started serving meals to their homeless neighbors in need. Today, from its campus in Indio, California, Martha's Village addresses the underlying causes of homelessness, and challenges each resident to become a better person through Bridges to Independence - a groundbreaking approach to rehabilitation.
