Newark, NJ – Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker joined with Hayward Industries, Inc. executives to announce the company is making a corporate philanthropic donation of $150,000 to help the City of Newark keep its six municipal swimming pools open for three more weeks. Newark residents can now enjoy recreational swimming until the end of the summer swimming pool season.

"Newark is a very blessed city today. We have a company and a family that is stepping forward to help support our mission to empower our children and families during a time when we are facing massive shortfalls in revenue and are being forced to make tough decisions. We are grateful that the Davis family and their corporation offered to become a champion for our city. To me this is a relief from the heat and we are a grateful City," said Mayor Booker.

Hayward Industries Inc. is the largest manufacturer of swimming pool and spa equipment in the world. Headquartered in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Hayward has been the industry's first choice for residential solutions for more than 80 years. Hayward has a commitment to developing cutting edge, environmentally responsible, technologically-advanced pool and spa equipment for residential and commercial pools.

"It's something we wanted to do to give back to the community of Newark. We are happy we were able to make a difference so Newark's children and their families can enjoy the rest of the summer season. This is the business we are in and it warms our hearts to see children swimming and enjoying the water," said Hayward Industries President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Davis.

"We have hundreds of families who spend their entire summer at our pools and this has been an extremely hot summer. We are very grateful to Hayward for this generous donation. It's a joy to know someone cares about our pools and this donation will support our seasonal lifeguards who are working to pay for school," said City of Newark Aquatics Supervisor, Sam White.
